East of Waukegan Road and south of Lake Cook Road, Countryside Park sits just outside the Northbrook Village boundaries in the Glenbrook Countryside subdivision in unincorporated Cook County. The park is home to a half-court basketball court, a playground, a pathway and a baseball diamond.

History

In 1945, the Blackheath Golf Course clubhouse and swimming pool were located on the property, occupying three of the builder’s lots. During construction of the subdivision, the clubhouse served as a sales office. The lots were sold in 1954, and the developer donated them to the homeowner’s association, which demolished the clubhouse. The homeowners’ association gave the property to the Park District on March 28, 1955 in exchange for a community park, improvements and continued maintenance. The District added a baseball diamond in 1965 and a basketball court in 2001. The playground has been updated several times.
