The Park District provides recreational opportunities and services for the residents of Northbrook, located in Cook County, Illinois. These services include organizing recreational programs, maintaining park facilities and amenities and managing capital improvement projects. Park District programs and services are funded largely through user fees, while property tax revenue primarily supports operational and maintenance costs of park amenities and facilities.
The Finance Division develops and monitors the financial performance of the Northbrook Park District. Responsibilities include financial reporting, budget, audit, debt management, purchasing and all other accounting functions of the District.
Distinguished Budget Presentation Award
The Northbrook Park District has received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada each year since 2000. The award is the highest form of recognition in government budgeting. The budget document is judged as a policy document, operations guide, financial plan and communications device.
Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting
The Northbrook Park District has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada each year since 1992. The award is the highest form of recognition in the area of government accounting and financial reporting.
