Dragons and tacos: what better combination for a story sure to lure children into its magic?

Running February 1-22, “Dragons Love Tacos” is a fun and light production that will delight the little ones, wrapping up the 2024-2025 season of Northbrook Theatre for Young Audiences.

This one-hour production is based on the well-known children’s book written by Adam Rubin and illustrated by Daniel Salmieri. When a little boy decides to throw a taco party for dragons, he doesn’t notice the spicy jalapenos warning label on one of the salsa jars. When the salsa makes the dragons breathe fire, silly mayhem ensues.

“We are beyond excited to bring ‘Dragons Love Tacos’ to the Northbrook Theatre stage, where laughter, surprises and a whole lot of salsa await,” Northbrook Park District Visual and Performing Arts Manager Drew Kambach said. “This is a story for audiences of all ages — whether you love dragons, tacos or just a good laugh, you won’t want to miss it!”

The performance schedule includes weekend and weekday morning and afternoon performances throughout the run of the show, including holiday performances on Valentine’s Day and President’s Day. The show is geared toward ages 3 and up. Tickets are $17. Infants and lap children do not require a seat. Lap children are defined as those who are not yet able to walk or have just started walking.

Performances take place at Northbrook Theatre, 3323 Walters Avenue in Northbrook.

The theater seats 268 patrons. School field trips are welcome; group sales must include 15 or more people for a discounted rate of $12 per ticket. Birthday party packages are available. To purchase tickets and more information, visit nbparks.org/theatre.

Northbrook Theatre for Young Audiences (NTYA) is one of three theater companies under the umbrella of Northbrook Theatre. All NTYA productions are performed by professional actors and serve as a wonderful introduction to live theatre.
