Northbrook Sports Center Pool Opens This Weekend

We are excited for the scheduled opening of the Northbrook Sports Center Pool! As we prepare for the summer pool season, we want to make sure you are prepared with key information about pool openings, closing the pools for inclement weather and other reasons, and details about our special events.

While Memorial Day weekend is the traditional opening of one of the pools, the predicted forecast is unseasonably cool. If temperatures remain low or conditions are unfavorable, the pool will be closed. Should the temperature and conditions improve, we may modify hours. Staff will monitor the weather daily and post updates on the Statusfy notification system which is accessible on our Field, Facility and Event Status page.

It is traditional for one pool to open before the other—one on Memorial Day weekend and the other after the school year ends. Similarly, the first facility to open typically closes in early August, while the second remains open with post-season hours through Labor Day weekend. This year, Sports Center Pool is scheduled to open first with pre-season hours and close first, while Meadowhill Aquatic Center will open later and continue operations through Labor Day Weekend.

Pool Pass Holder: Membership Cards

Any park district card issued since 2018 will automatically be updated with your new membership registration. If you do not have a card, we encourage you to stop by either Techny Prairie Activity Center, Northbrook Sports Center or the Leisure Center during regular hours of operation to have a card printed prior to your first trip to the pool. Cards can be printed at the pool but, depending on the length of the line, it may take an extended period of time.

Statusfy Facility Status Updates – Check Before You Go!

The Northbrook Park District utilizes the Statusfy notification system to stay up to date on facility information, including facility closures and inclement weather. Facilities can close for a variety of reasons. When temperatures are below 68 degrees or 72 degrees with accompanying conditions (i.e. cloud cover, wind) or attendance is low, some pool amenities may be closed or operated on a rotating basis. Depending on programming, one pool may be closed while the other remains open to accommodate members.

If there is lightning in the area, the pool deck will be cleared until the Strikeguard system provides the “all clear” signal. The pool may also close for mechanical failure, chemical issues or an emergency.

Statusfy

Statusfy is a simple way to find out the status of a pool, field or facility.
