Unplug From Electronic Devices This Saturday at Park District Pools

In honor of Unplug Illinois Day, Northbrook and Glencoe residents are encouraged to ditch their electronic devices and enjoy free admission to both Northbrook Park District pools from 3-7 pm on Saturday, July 13.

The “Unplug Illinois” campaign was created six years ago by the Illinois Park and Recreation Association opens in new tab to encourage people to put aside technology and thoroughly enjoy play, creativity, adventure and time with friends and family without distractions. Research shows that unplugging from digital devices has numerous benefits for mental and physical well-being, including reducing stress, improving mood and enhancing creativity.

The park district’s pools are Meadowhill Aquatic Center, 1501 Maple Ave., and Northbrook Sports Center Pool, 1730 Pfingsten Road. To check whether the pools are open due to weather, visit the Field, Facility & Event Status page of nbparks.org. This event will not be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather.

The park district is among more than 60 agencies across the state that will support Unplug Illinois Day with a variety of events on July 13.

The IPRA campaign aims to raise visibility and awareness of the environmental sustainability, wellness, and the economic impact park, recreation and conservation agencies have on the communities they serve.

Free admission to Northbrook Park District pools on Unplug Illinois Day 2024 is restricted to Northbrook and Glencoe residents only. Proof of residency will be required. For more information about Unplug Illinois, including additional resources, visit unplugillinois.org opens in new tab.
