As cooler weather approaches, the Northbrook Park District is beginning its annual shutdown and winterization of park restrooms and drinking fountains.
Winterization will start October 21. The shutdown is expected to be completed by November 11.
“There are more than 18 sites in the parks system where the water supply needs to be shut off before the first hard freeze, to prevent costly damage to pipes and fixtures,” said Ed Dalton, Director of Parks and Properties. “Our goal is to systematically shut the water service down with as little inconvenience to the public as possible.”
The most heavily visited parks, including Village Green, Coastguard Dog Park and Techny Prairie Park and Fields, will be among the last facilities to undergo the winterization process. Each park’s water services will be shut off according to the following schedule:

• Indian Ridge Park
• Meadowhill Park

• Techny Prairie Park and Fields (drinking fountains)
• Village Green Park
Week of November 11
• Techny Prairie Center (restrooms)
• Coast Guard Dog Park
