The Northbrook Park District is pleased to present its first-ever Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR), which offers a snapshot of the district’s fiscal health in a succinct and easily digestible format.
The document was created to further promote transparency and accountability, Northbrook Park District Executive Director Chris Leiner said.
“This report aims to present information from the park district’s audit and budget in an easy-to-understand and accessible format,” Leiner said. “By developing this report, the district continues to be a leader in financial transparency.”
The 2023 PAFR offers a summary of the park district’s financial activities for 2023, with explanatory graphics about the district’s demographics, and the year’s accomplishments and challenges. It also gives an overview of the budget and how the district allocates funds to its parks, recreation facilities and programs, capital projects and more.
The information was primarily gathered from the Northbrook Park District’s annual budget for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2023, and the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR), which was audited by the firm Lauterbach and Amen, LLP. Complete versions of both documents are available online at nbparks.org and can be viewed at the Joe Doud Administrative Building at 545 Academy Drive, Northbrook.
The PAFR provides an excellent overview of key financial measures for the district, said Northbrook Park District Director of Finance and Technology Mike Tokar.
“It’s a great supplement to our annual comprehensive financial report because it gives a clear and concise summary of our financial performance to inform our residents, stakeholders and other interested parties,” Tokar said. “For a deeper dive, people can always obtain all the detailed and technical information in our annual comprehensive financial report.”
