This month, the Northbrook Park District is offering a zero-fee enrollment special for new members of Techny Prairie Activity Center opens in new tab to kickstart 2025 with a renewed commitment to health and wellness.
Built in 2021, Techny Prairie Activity Center (TPAC) is a 44,200-square-foot building with a 6,000-square-foot fitness floor with cardio, strength and functional fitness training equipment; more than 50 group fitness classes weekly; an 8-laps-per-mile indoor walking track; and a multipurpose gymnasium for basketball, pickleball and volleyball. In summer, members can take outdoor aqua fitness classes and enjoy designated pool hours for water walking and lap swimming.
“Engaging in regular fitness activities can improve energy, reduce stress and enhance overall health, and staying consistent is key,” TPAC Manager Shawn Bernaky said. “We advise new members to start at a manageable pace, because small, sustainable steps lead to lasting success.”
To assist individuals as they embark on their new healthful journey, new members ages 15 and up get three free personal training sessions.
Besides waiving the enrollment fee, TPAC offers a variety of perks to try out the facility in January:
- Free access to the walking track on January 14 and January 28
- Free access to the launch of BODYPUMP classes at 5:30pm on January 13, 9:15am on January 15 and January 17; and 10:15am on January 18
Each season, TPAC offers dozens of group fitness classes as part of membership, including Dance Fit, Zumba, Yoga, Mat Pilates, Tai Chi, Pure Strength, Total Body HIIT, Ignite, Cardio Blast, Essentrics and many more.
TPAC also offers a variety of specialty classes and programs that do not require a membership, including these new options for 2025:
- Nourish and Flourish opens in new tab, a cooking workshop for ages 12 and up starting January 11.
- Fit Fore Golf, a golf strength and conditioning program for ages 15 and up starting in February.
