Wear your creepiest costumes and celebrate Halloween early at the Pet Parade and 3K Fun Run/Walk in one of Northbrook’s best parks.

This year’s fun will take place October 25 at Techny Prairie Park and Fields, 1750 Techny Road. Both events, offered yearly by the Northbrook Park District, are guaranteed to be a blast for children and adults alike.

The Pet Parade will take place from 5-6 pm and will conclude with a costume contest, including best look-alike pet, best pet and owner combo costume, and the spookiest animal. The winners will go home with pet-friendly goodies.

“This event is one of my favorites,” Northbrook Park District Recreation Supervisor Matt Papale said. “Getting to see all of the pets in unique and fun costumes is a blast.”

Registration for the Pet Parade is $10 and will be available online or onsite up until the event begins. Must be 18 and over to register.

Rover’s Place opens in new tab, Hollywood Feed opens in new tab and J. Blanton Plumbing opens in new tab are the event’s presenting sponsors.

After the Pet Parade, you can enjoy on-leash activities with vendor booths, pup cups and a doggie pumpkin patch.

Then, keep your costumes on and lace up your sneakers for the Halloween 3K Fun Run/Walk taking place at 6pm. The course runs through Techny Prairie Park and Fields, which will be decked out with Halloween decorations.

Post-race, you can feast on bananas, squeezable snacks, bagels and cream cheese, and, of course, candy. Children can enjoy Halloween-themed activities.

Make sure to stick around to compete for the best overall costume for youths and adults, the best group costume, the scariest costume and the most creative costume.

“Our Halloween 3K race is a fantastic way to combine fitness, fun and community spirit,” said Northbrook Park District Recreation Supervisor Isaac Urow. “Families get the chance to showcase their creativity with unique costumes, while also enjoying a healthy activity and some delicious candy. So, lace up your running shoes, put on your best costume, and get ready for a spooktacular time!”

Northbrook Bank & Trust opens in new tab is the event’s presenting sponsor.

Register for the 3K Fun Run/Walk online or in-person. The cost is $15 for individuals, $45 for families up to four.

Bag and T-shirt pick up will be from 3-7pm on Wednesday, October 23 at Techny Prairie Activity Center, 180 Anets Drive. T-Shirts are not guaranteed for those who register after October 23.

Registration will be accepted in person on the day of the event, up until race time, at Techny Prairie Activity Center.
