Photo: Joe Klein Team USAThe Northbrook Park District is celebrating one of its own skaters after Joe Klein became the 2021 U.S. Junior National silver medalist.

Klein, 16 years old, placed second in the Junior Men’s Competition Thursday, January 21 at the 2021 U.S. Figure Skating Championships in Las Vegas.

“This is a huge accomplishment for Joe, and the Northbrook Sports Center and Northbrook community are very proud of him,” said Northbrook Sports Center Manager. “He grew up in our programs and to see him reach this level of success in figure skating is truly amazing. We’ve all been cheering him on here at the Northbrook Park District. We are Northbrook proud.”

This was Klein’s fifth U.S. Figure Skating Championship. For the 2021 competition, he skated to “Big Smoke” and “The Gallows” by Audiomachine for his free skate, earning Level 4s on all three spins to score 123.70 points, according to the U.S. Figure Skating website. He earned a total of 187.30 total points in the competition.
