Everybody loves Party on the Green, a free festive day full of live music, games and giveaways returning this year on Aug. 12.

The party, courtesy of the Northbrook Park District, will begin at 4 p.m. at Village Green Park at Shermer and Meadow roads in downtown Northbrook.

Live music starts at 4:15 p.m. with the cheerful energy of Gen FuZe, who’ve been delighting suburban crowds with their mix of classic and modern rock tunes. From Fleetwood Mac to Billy Joel and Fall Out Boy, the band will make people of all ages want to sing and dance along with a smile on their faces.

The Blooze Brothers will take the stage at 5:45 p.m. and are sure to wow the crowd with their high-powered mix of Chicago-style Motown, soul and rock ‘n roll. The band has been in demand for more than three decades across Chicagoland and is known for honoring the music and spirit of the original Blues Brothers.

There will be lots of entertainment for the little ones, including an inflatable giant slide, two face painters and a glitter artist, along with art activities.

The party will wrap up with a viewing at dusk of the animated movie “The Mitchells vs. the Machines.” Popcorn will be provided for the movie.

Tasty food will be available for purchase from Tacomotora and beer will be sold by The Landmark Inn.

“We are thrilled to provide this free community event at Village Green Park again this summer before the summer season comes to a close,” Superintendent of Arts and Recreation Erin Sweet said. “If you’ve enjoyed our summer concert series, Brewfest or other community events, Party on the Green is sure to give you another memorable experience for the whole family to enjoy together.”

The Village Green will be fenced in for this free family event, whose presenting sponsor is Northbrook Bank & Trust, N.A.

There will be a security check of bags at the entrance. People are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets, but no outside food or beverages will be allowed. For more information about Party on the Green or other upcoming events, visit nbparks.org/events or call 847-291-2993.
