If you’ve never thought of a career in parks and recreation, this summer offers the perfect opportunity to check out this rewarding and exciting field thanks to a variety of open positions at the Northbrook Park District.

The park district employs hundreds of high school and college students each year, and provides a supportive environment to ensure people of all backgrounds and levels of experience feel comfortable while learning important life skills.

Our 24 parks and 13 facilities provide recreation, fitness, aquatics, sports, golf, skating and theatre programs for the entire community. This summer, you can choose among opportunities such as working with kids as a camp counselor, spending time outdoors with landscaping and grounds crews, helping families stay safe at the pool, greeting the public in customer service, and much more. All roles offer the chance to learn and grow while honing skills such as communication, organization and leadership.

Competitive Pay and Great Benefits

The park district offers competitive pay for all roles. Benefits for part-time employees, including year-round and seasonal, are: free membership for Techny Prairie Activity Center, Meadowhill Aquatic Center and the Northbrook Sports Center Pool; golf discounts at Heritage Oaks Golf Club and free golf Monday through Friday at Anetsberger Golf Course; unlimited play at batting cages; free attendance for drop-in programs such as Cosmic Skate, public skate, open hockey and open gym; free annual membership for the dog park; and discounts on program registration.
