Northbrook Park District is hosting a series of live events on YouTube, inviting prominent Northbrook natives to answer questions and discuss their achievements in film, theatre, sports and other fields.

The District’s next Northbrook Native Spotlight event is set for Wednesday, May 20 at 6:30pm, featuring Glenbrook North High School graduate Jayne Brook. Brook was a series regular for four and a half seasons on the acclaimed drama “Chicago Hope.” In addition to her television and theatre background, her feature film credits include “Kindergarten Cop,” “Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead,” “Clean Slate,” “Bye Bye Love,” “Last Dance,” “Into the Heart” and “Gattaca.”

Most recently, Brook recurred in the first two seasons of Star Trek: Discovery as Starfleet admiral Katrina Cornwell. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband John Terlesky and their two daughters. Brook will discuss growing up in Northbrook and her experiences working as a professional actor.

On Wednesday, May 27 at 6:30pm, the District’s next Northbrook Native Spotlight will feature GBN graduate Jon Scheyer, Associate Head Coach of the Duke Blue Devils. Scheyer was a McDonald’s and Parade All-American as a senior at Glenbrook North High School in 2006 and the only player in Illinois history to rank in the state’s career top 10 in points, assists and steals. He was elevated from Special Assistant to Assistant Coach to his most recent promotion as Associate Head Coach following the 2017-18 season.
