Celebrate Unplug Illinois Day by plugging into outdoor, overnight fun at Village Green Park!
Set for 7pm Saturday, July 11 to 9am Sunday, July 12, the Family Campout features games, a campfire, s’mores and a movie at sundown. A continental breakfast will be served in the morning. Families must bring their own tents and sleeping gear.
“Unplug Illinois Day is all about putting down electronic devices and heading outside to enjoy recreation activities,” said Katie Kotloski, Recreation Division Manager. “We’re excited it falls on the same date as our Family Campout, where families can share a one-of-a-kind experience under the stars. We have an awesome evening planned for everyone!”
An Undernight is available from 7-11pm for participants not wanting to sleep over. The fee is $125 per tent or family of four for residents and $159 for non-residents. Additional campers are $29 per person for residents and $35 per person for non-residents. Undernight cost is $29 per person for residents and $35 for non-residents. The campsite will be set up to ensure physical distancing of 6 feet can be maintained between families.
An initiative through the Illinois Park and Recreation Association, Unplug Illinois works with park districts statewide to educate the public about the value of parks and recreation and encourage people to “plug into” fun while promoting environmental sustainability, wellness and play.
