In an effort to maintain and improve our existing amenities, the Park District is starting a Lake Management Plan for Lake Shermerville at Wood Oaks Green Park and Anetsberger Pond at Anetsberger Golf Course.
Recent Improvements
- Appropriate fish stocking at both bodies of water in the spring
- Contract with a vendor to assist with data collection and interpretation
- Buoy that monitors and reports back water quality data and trends

Frequently Asked Questions
The Park District has contracted out data collection and monitoring to better understand the life cycle of the water. The yellow buoy is used to capture live data which is monitored and evaluated by the contractor to make improvements or to show the ebbs and flows of nutrient, temperature and other water quality data.
The products being used are EPA registered and non-hazardous to wildlife, pets and humans. Contractor will be in a water craft, spraying a liquid on top of the water. The treatment needs to be absorbed by the algae and results typically show in 2-3 days. The treatment is an oxidizer.
