The Techny Prairie Park and Fields Improvements Project includes a new playground, picnic shelter and tunnel for batting and pitching. Project scope also includes renovations to the batting cages, baseball field #29 and the Trail Through Time.

Project Updates

July 17, 2026

The Northbrook Park District will begin the renovation of the multi-use Basin Loop Trail at Techny Prairie Park and Fields on August 3. The project, anticipated to be completed in October, includes the full removal and replacement of the asphalt path surrounding the basin, as well as several connector path entrances.

Areas closed during the duration of the project include the Basin Loop Trail and the bridge to the Meadowhill Park path.

Other areas at Techny Prairie Park and Fields will remain open for the majority of the project, including athletic fields, picnic shelters, the warming shelter with restrooms, the Trail Through Time, the Skate Park, the batting cages and Anetsberger Golf Course. If closures of any of these amenities are needed, signage will be posted.

Project is out to public bid. Construction anticipated to commence in August 2026 for 6-8 weeks depending of weather.

August 4, 2025

The Techny Prairie Park and Fields path improvements project team is preparing a submittal to regulatory agencies for review. This project will replace the basin loop path with a very similar layout with some added improvements for drainage.
