Northbrook Park District offers a variety of ways to enjoy the outdoors during the winter months!

The District’s two outdoor ice rinks at Meadowhill Park, 1479 Maple Avenue, and Tower Rink, 1225 Cedar Lane, will open once weather conditions permit. The District needs 72 hours of weather below 15 degrees to begin freezing the rinks, followed by at least five days of below-freezing weather before skating is allowed.

Two large sled hills are available at Techny Prairie Park and Fields, 1750 Techny Road, and Wood Oaks Green Park, 1150 Sanders Road. The hills also serve as outdoor workout and hiking spaces when there’s no snow.

Northbrook Park District also offers more than seven miles of trails and pathways offering scenic views the public can enjoy year-round. During snowfall, main trails are cleared, with priority given to the District’s major parks—Techny Prairie Park and Fields, Wood Oaks Green Park and Village Green Park.
