You can play a role in updating the Northbrook Park District’s ten-year Comprehensive Master Plan and help take the District through the next five years and beyond!

The District is offering several ways for the community to participate in the Comprehensive Master Plan process which will include a detailed blueprint for Park District projects for the next five years and long-term strategies for the following five years. Opportunities to provide feedback include a Community Input Meeting, a Community Input Online Portal and a random Statistically Valid Survey.

The Community Input Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, May 12, from 5:30-6:30pm at Techny Prairie Activity Center, 180 Anets Drive in Techny Prairie Park and Fields. Check in begins at 5:15pm with the meeting starting promptly at 5:30pm. Led by industry experts from Hitchcock Design Group, this community workshop meeting is open to the public. RSVPs are not required but reservations are encouraged as capacity may be limited if there is an overwhelming response.

During the meeting, attendees will learn about the Comprehensive Master Plan and have the chance to provide feedback regarding potential improvements to the District’s park and recreation offerings over the next 10 years. Activities include a brainstorming session and the opportunity to provide written comments. For more information or to RSVP, contact Joan Scovic, Director of Marketing & Communications, at jscovic@nbparks.org or 847-897-6129.

For those who cannot attend this meeting, a Community Input Online Portal is available now through May 28. The portal will provide the opportunity to give feedback regarding Northbrook Park District facilities, programs and events—both those currently offered, and those residents may want to see in the future. The portal is accessible at nbparks.org or hitchcockdesigngroup.com/northbrook-comp-plan.

ETC Institute has been engaged to conduct a random Statistically Valid Survey of Northbrook Park District residents through the U.S. Postal Service. The Northbrook Park District will not know who receives the random survey. Those who do receive the survey in the mail are encouraged to share their input. The survey includes instructions for completion by mail or online.

“I am excited to conduct this latest review of the Comprehensive Master Plan and hear what the public has to say. We are continually looking for new and innovative ways to serve the community through recreation opportunities,” said Executive Director Molly Hamer. “We have always had excellent input from residents and as a result, a state-of-the art, sustainable Activity Center now stands in Techny Prairie Park and Fields. Course renovations and clubhouse construction at Heritage Oaks Golf Club (formerly Sportsman’s Country Club) are also a result of resident input. We are looking forward to re-opening this facility later this summer.”
