Project Completed

Northbrook Park District is excited to announce the upcoming playground equipment replacement project at Meadowhill Park located at 1479 Maple Avenue. The playground was installed in 1996, is 22 years old, and has approached the end of its life cycle.

In 2019, the District asked the community for initial input regarding playground equipment and park neighbors were invited to vote on two potential playground designs in early 2022. The results of this input are depicted in the drawings on the other side of this postcard.

The Park Board of Commissioners has approved the purchase and installation of new playground equipment for this park, including the addition of a synthetic turf play surface to replace the wood chips. This new surface is antimicrobial and provides increased drainage, more consistent shock absorbency performance, and consistent accessibility while decreasing the labor and costs associated with wood chip maintenance. This surface will also incorporate T°Cool, a premium infill designed to absorb and release moisture to cool the turf. It slowly releases moisture throughout the day.

Construction is currently scheduled to begin in June, with completion in Summer 2022. Please note, the playground replacement timeline is dependent upon supply chain and equipment delivery as well as weather conditions. During the replacement, the playground is a construction site and the area is closed.

While the playground is closed, the closest playgrounds can be found at Village Green Park located at Shermer Road and Meadow Road in downtown Northbrook and Techny Prairie Park and Fields located at 1750 Techny Road.
