Waterline shutdown has been confirmed for Tuesday, April 19 from 8am to 4:30pm. Please note that programs may be relocated, rescheduled, or canceled. Program supervisors will be reaching out to all participants with more information.

This infrastructure project includes the replacement of the waterline, originally installed in 1964, from Walters Avenue to the Leisure Center building. In the past several years, there have been multiple breaks along this waterline which have resulted in building closures due to disruption of water service.

Water service to surrounding homes will not be impacted by this project and there are no plans for any work to be done to the existing fence along the Leisure Center’s east property line.

Please see the map below for more information on the project location. Throughout the course of the replacement there may be construction noise at the site. Construction hours may include Monday-Friday from 7:00am-7:00pm and Saturday from 8:00am-6:00pm.

Temporary traffic patterns for the Leisure Center parking lot will be in place for the duration of the project. Please use caution; watch for pedestrians and children at play, especially near the playground and athletic fields.

This project was approved by the Board of Park Commissioners as part of the 2022 Capital Improvement Plan. During a recent statistically valid survey of Northbrook Park District residents, the community identified maintaining existing park amenities and infrastructure as the most important action for the District to pursue. This project will help prevent future water service interruption to the Leisure Center building. Engineering and surveying services took place last year with construction scheduled for this spring.
