Northbrook native and Colorado Avalanche team member JT Compher is hosting a Stanley Cup event at the Northbrook Sports Center, 1730 Pfingsten Road, Northbrook, on Friday, July 15 from 11:15am to 1:15pm. The event includes brief remarks followed by the opportunity to take pictures with Compher and the Stanley Cup along with trivia, prizes and DJ entertainment.

Compher grew up in Northbrook playing for the Northbrook Bluehawks and then for Team Illinois prior to leaving for the US National Development Team. Through this event, Compher is excited to give back to the community and encourages people to pay it forward by supporting Youth Services of Glenview/Northbrook in their belief that “every child should grow up happy, healthy and with hope.” Donations for photos with Compher and the Stanley Cup are encouraged and can be completed via Venmo (@youthservices), online at ysgn.org, or via cash or check at the July 15 event.

For event safety, bags and purses are highly discouraged. If a bag or purse is necessary, it is subject to search. Parking will be limited. Attendees are encouraged to carpool, walk or bike to the event. Photos will be available as time permits; autographs will not be available.

Compher is a Center for the Colorado Avalanche. He was chosen by the Buffalo Sabres in the second round (no. 35) of the 2013 NHL Draft and was traded to the Avalanche in 2015. Prior to being drafted, Compher’s college career at University of Michigan included many accomplishments including Big Ten All-Rookie Team (2014), Big Ten Second All-Star Team (2014), Big Ten Rookie of the Year (2014), Big Ten First All-Star Team (2016), and NCAA West Second All-American Team (2016).

Friday’s JT Compher and the Stanley Cup event has been supported by many organizations and businesses including the Colorado Avalanche, Northbrook Park District, Village of Northbrook, Northbrook Bluehawks, Josh’s Hot Dogs, Red’s Garden Center, Spice City Music, Barbara’s Balloons, Sari P. Photography, Anna Cillan Photography, and Adapted.
