
Northbrook Theatre Youth Company – Moana JR.
Disney’s Moana JR. is a 60-minute musical adaptation of the 2016 Disney animated film, bringing the adventures of Moana and her village of Motunui to life onstage. Moana JR. features all the beloved songs from the film, written by Tony®, GRAMMY, Emmy, and Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Lin-Manuel Miranda, Opetaia Foa’i, and Mark Mancina, including “How Far I’ll Go,” “Shiny,” and “You’re Welcome.”
This thrilling and heartwarming coming-of-age story follows the strong-willed Moana as she sets sail across the Pacific to save her village and discover the truth about her heritage. Moana and the legendary demigod Maui embark on an epic journey of self-discovery and camaraderie as both learn to harness the power that lies within. With empowering messages of bravery and selflessness, Moana JR. is sure to bring out the hero within each of us.
General Audition Information
Auditions are required in order to assess each individual actor’s comfort level as a performer, evaluate their skills and find the role that will best fit their personality and talent.
- What to Expect– Each participant will sing a musical theatre song of their choice, perform an excerpt from the show (provided by the director), and dance a routine taught by the choreographer. The program supervisor, choreographer, music director/accompanist, and director, as well as other actors auditioning in the same group, may be present during auditions.
- What to Prepare- All participants should prepare 30-45 seconds of a musical theatre song. Sheet music must be provided by the participant. The music should be hole-punched within a binder for the accompanist. Please ensure that sheet music has a vocal line as well as a line for the accompaniment below it. - What to Wear- Participants should wear clothes and shoes they are comfortable dancing and performing in.
