Northbrook Park District has combined the Winter and Spring program offerings into one publication scheduled for mailing on November 18. The new Winter/Spring program guide features programs taking place from January through May 2023 and also includes information and registration for summer camps. The guide will be posted on November 18 for online viewing.

Residents can register for all listed programs beginning November 30, with non-resident registration available December 7. Registration can be completed online at nbparks.org or at any of the District’s registration facilities including the Leisure Center, Northbrook Sports Center and Techny Prairie Activity Center. Special events offered to the community include the annual Daddy-Daughter Dance: A Night on the Town and two Mother-Son Date Night events. Spring favorites such as Brunch with the Bunny and the Mother-Daughter Spring Tea provide indoor fun while those who love the outdoors are invited to participate in the free Kids’ Fishing Derby at Lake Shermerville in beautiful Wood Oaks Green Park.

Summer Camps for 2023 include a wide variety of indoor and outdoor activities to keep children active all summer long! From Camp Sunshine and Kaleidoscope Kids for our youngest campers to the return of the Counselors in Training for ages 13-15, kids are sure to find fun in the summer sun. Specialized camps are also available including Theatre Arts Workshop, Hockey Training Academy and Skate & Dance Camp while Golf Camps will be offered at both Anetsberger Golf Course and Heritage Oaks Golf Club. A Camp Open House is being offered on February 15 to answer questions and provide additional information about camp options.

Techny Prairie Activity Center, the District’s net-zero verified building, is home to a 6,000 square foot fitness floor, two fitness studios, a full size gymnasium, an indoor track and the Kids’ Corner Childcare room. Heritage Oaks Golf Club is a year-round facility offering private lessons, rentals and league play in the new Indoor Simulator room during the winter months, with outdoor play kicking off again in spring. The Brook Room rental space is the perfect location for your next family gathering or event, and the Acorn Grill + Terrace offers year round dining featuring amazing views of the golf course through floor-to-ceiling windows. Athletic programs from instructional classes to seasonal leagues are available for a variety of age groups. Receive a 10% discount with completed registration for Youth Basketball by December 5, for Boys Lacrosse by March 1 and for Spring Soccer by March 3.

Opportunities for young children include Sunshine Preschool, You Are My Sunshine parent-tot program, Safety Town and a variety of general interest classes such as cooking, arts and crafts and music. Early Childhood Open Gym returns in Winter 2023 at the Leisure Center with various fun equipment to encourage free play with other young families while Hot Shot Sports include a range of classes encompassing a variety of sports for several age groups.

From Days Off School to chess, art and cooking classes, school aged children can learn skills, make friends and try something new.

Northbrook Theatre, located in the Leisure Center, is home to many opportunities in the Performing Arts. The popular Community Musical for ages 9 through adult returns in 2023 offering the Fall Production of Matilda with auditions July 12-13. Auditions for the Spring 2023 teen production of Footloose for ages 13-18 are scheduled for March 22 and Moana Jr auditions, with casts for ages 8-13 and 10-15, take place January 3-4. Performing Arts programs also include instructional classes in dance, improv and audition prep as well as private lessons in piano, voice, dance or acting.

Recreation isn’t just for kids! Northbrook Park District offers many programming options for adults as well. From Men’s Basketball and Softball leagues to art classes, adults are invited to get involved, meet people and learn new skills.

Members of the Northbrook Senior Center enjoy a wide variety of programs and activities with others who share their interests. Drop-In Programs include cards and games, arts and crafts, pickleball and bocce; these programs are included in Senior Center membership. An expansive calendar of additional health and wellness classes, instructional arts programs, special events, luncheons and educational seminars are also offered.
