The Northbrook 4th of July Committee, comprised of staff members from the Village of Northbrook opens in new tab and the Northbrook Park District, is set to host Northbrook’s annual Fourth of July Celebration on Saturday, July 4, 2026, with a community parade beginning at 4 p.m. and a fireworks display at dusk.
This year’s celebration carries special significance as Northbrook commemorates its 125th Anniversary. The milestone year coincides with the nation’s 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, creating a unique opportunity to celebrate both Northbrook’s history and America’s enduring legacy.
“Northbrook’s Fourth of July celebration is one of our community’s most cherished traditions,” said Village President Kathryn Ciesla. “As we celebrate Northbrook’s 125th Anniversary and our nation’s 250th birthday, we are reminded of the people, organizations, and traditions that have shaped our community over the last century and a quarter. This day brings residents together to honor our shared history while creating new memories for the future.”
The Village of Northbrook will serve as the 2026 Fourth of July Parade Grand Marshal. The Village will be represented by community members who help make Northbrook a vibrant and engaged community, including local Scout troop members, volunteers serving on Village commissions, students who participated in this year’s Student Government Day program, and other community representatives. “Northbrook’s Fourth of July festivities bring our community together as families and friends gather and connect for a day filled with fun, joy and appreciation for our country’s history and traditions,” said Northbrook Park District Board President Michael Goodman. “This wonderful celebration is even more meaningful this year, as our nation marks such a significant milestone, and is made possible by the great partnership between the Northbrook Park District and the Village of Northbrook, which makes our community stronger and Northbrook truly a wonderful place to live.”
The parade route will begin just west of Westmoor School opens in new tab, 2500 Cherry Lane, and conclude at Village Hall, 1225 Cedar Lane. Residents are encouraged to review the official parade route map and plan ahead for road closures and traffic impacts.
Accessible parking will be available at Northbrook United Methodist Church opens in new tab, with restroom facilities available at Westmoor School and portable restrooms located on Cedar Lane.
Safety remains a top priority throughout the event. Safety barricades will be placed along the parade route, and spectators are expected to remain on or behind curbs and barricades and out of the street. Candy and giveaways will only be distributed to spectators standing behind curbs or barricades. Squirt guns are prohibited at the parade.
Festivities will continue with a fireworks display at dusk. Eventgoers can enjoy DJ entertainment, family-friendly activities, and giveaways beginning at 7 p.m. at the Ed Rudolph Velodrome and Meadowhill Park. Activities will be hosted by the Rotary Club of Northbrook opens in new tab, the Village of Northbrook 125th Anniversary Celebration Commission, and the Northbrook Park District. Guests may bring their own food, non-alcoholic beverages, chairs, and blankets. Kona Ice opens in new tab will be available for sale. The fireworks display is best viewed from Meadowhill Park and Techny Prairie Park and Fields. As a reminder, residents are encouraged to leave fireworks to the professionals.
