Red Colored Trees

Fall walks along our park trails and off are one of the best activities to do in Northbrook.

The temperatures might be cooler, but there may be no better time to experience the outdoors here than in the Fall. With children back in school, the pace slows, Fall breezes rustle the branches and the scenery glows in Fall colors.

A trip to our parks puts you in the center of activity, with playgrounds, ball fields and courts, and naturalized areas with paved walking paths. If you’ve taken a stroll through the Trail Through Time path at Techny Prairie Park and Fields in the summer, you know just how great it can be.

If you want to take a step into seclusion, visit one of our lesser visited parks such as Stonegate Park where there is an abundance of open space that you can visit at from sunrise to sunset.

Fall Foliage Tip: Chase the light. The colors of fall are best at sunrise and sunset. Get up early and catch your favorite trail or view in the stillness of sunrise light, or find a secluded spot to catch a special sunset.

When you walk in fall you’ll need to put in a little extra preparation. Morning and nights can be unexpectedly chilly, so dress in layers and bring a hat in gloves if needed. Average low temperatures in September are in the low 50s, while October can drop into the 40s.
