Outdoor Trails
The Northbrook Park District has more than 7 miles of trails and pathways offering beautiful places to walk, jog or run throughout various parks.

Some of the longer pathways include a 1.25-mile loop at Wood Oaks Green Park as well as a 5K course mapped out at Techny Prairie Park and Fields. The half-mile long Trail Through Time offers a lovely historical walk. Paths at Techny Prairie Park and Fields also connect to nearby Meadowhill Park.

Indoor Track
The Indoor Track at Techny Prairie Activity Center offers sweeping second-floor views of Anetsberger Golf Course and the surrounding parkland through oversized windows. The 8-laps-per-mile track circles the cardio and strength area, fitness studios and gymnasium providing a change of scenery around every turn. Two five-foot-wide lanes comfortably allow for side-by-side use and ample space for any pace.

Members and guests heading upstairs to group fitness classes or taking a stroll on the Indoor Track are greeted by our Stretching Area—an open and relaxing space for loosening up before or after a workout. Equipped with places to sit as well as cubbies and small lockers for personal items, the 2,100 square foot space can also be used for personal training appointments. The second-floor stretching area is accessible by elevator or stairway.

Indoor Track use requires a Techny Prairie Activity Center or Track Only Membership, or a daily fee. For more information, click here.

Running Events
The Liberty Loop and Liberty Lap are held annually during Northbrook’s 4th of July celebrations. We also offer an annual Halloween 3K event.

Walking Programs
Adults 55 and older are invited to join Senior Center members for Walkie Talkies, a weekly walking club offered outdoors in the parks on Wednesdays and Fridays during the warmer months. Visit the Senior Center Membership page for more information.
