Outdoor Ice Rinks
The Park District offers two ice rinks. Both are lighted during evening hours. Tower_Rink_Ice

    The Park District needs 72 hours of weather at 15 degrees or less to begin freezing the outdoor rinks. This cold spell must be followed by at least 5 days of weather below 32 degrees before the ice can be used for skating.

Sled Hills
For winter excitement, the Park District offers two sled hills—at Wood Oaks Green Park and Techny Prairie Park and Fields. The sled hill at Techny Prairie Park and Fields is fully lighted during evening hours, and both locations have rest rooms.

    Sled hill opens at dawn and closes at sunset.

    Techny Prairie Park and Fields
    Sled hill opens at dawn and closes at 9pm.

Actions that may endanger the safety of others or interfere with the enjoyment of the facilities are prohibited. Rules are posted at each of the outdoor winter facilities. Sled hills and ice rink are not supervised, skating and sledding involve a risk of injury; participation is at your own risk.

Cross-Country Skiing and Snowshoeing at Sportsman’s Country ClubCrossCountrySkiing
Enjoy cross-country skiing or snowshoeing at Sportsman’s Country Club on groomed trails, wooded fairways and small hills. Bring your own equipment or rent equipment from the golf shop. For the protection of the grounds, a snow base of six-to-eight inches is required before skiing is permitted.

Call the golf shop at (847) 291-2351, ext. 3, to ensure that conditions are favorable for skiing.
