“Pippi Longstocking”

Enjoy the adventures of a high-spirited young girl who lives with a horse and a monkey but no adults in "Pippi Longstocking." The musical comedy opens on Jan. 16 at the Northbrook Theatre, 3323 Walters Avenue. Performances are at 10:30am and 1pm on Saturdays through Feb. 27.   February 12 Daddy-Daughter Dance
Dads bring your daughters out on Feb. 12 for a magical evening from 6:30-9pm at the Northbrook Hilton. Jan. 29 is the deadline for early, discounted registration. This year, the red-carpet event features a dazzling new look and a chocolate fountain dessert buffet.
  February 26 Spring Soccer Registration
Sign up for spring soccer to qualify for early, discounted registration. Teams are formed by grade and school, with an emphasis on player development, sportsmanship, learning and fun. Practices begin the week of Apr. 12.
  February 28 Golf Discount Card
Resident discount cards for golf are offered at a discount through Feb. 28 at Sportsman’s Country Club. Visit the golf shop to purchase or renew a resident card for the 2010 golf season, and bring a photo ID and utility bill. Residents pay lower rates on green fees and junior golfer punch cards with the discount card. The early fee is $25, and the price is $50 beginning on March 1.   March 1 Magic Class
Children learn entertaining tricks that use cards, ropes, coins and mind-reading. Designed for ages 5-12, the class meets from 5:15-6:10pm at the Leisure Center. Children are grouped by age and receive a magic kit to take home.
  March 11 Cookie Decorating
Attention, cookie monsters: A Cookie Decorating class will produce sweets and treats on
March 11 from 6:30-7:15pm at the Leisure Center. Children will decorate mini-cupcakes and
a tray of cookies with assorted toppings and colorful frosting. The program is designed for
ages 3-12; children between 3 and 5 years must bring a parent to help.
  March 20 Spring Bunny Trail
The Spring Bunny Trail will welcome spring with an egg hunt, egg-dying and entertainment from 10am to 12:30pm at Techny Prairie Park and Fields. Children can enjoy a bounce house, carnival games, hopping relay races, face painting and clowns. Randy the Magician will entertain from 10:15 – 11am. The egg hunt starts at 11am for ages 3 and younger, followed by ages 4-5 at 11:30am and ages 6-7 at noon. Food will be available for purchase. Parents are welcome to bring cameras and should bring a basket for collecting eggs.
