ICE SKATING COMPETITION
(Ref:# 1108-1) Everyone is invited to watch the “Falling Leaf Open,” an annual ice skating team competition on November 9-11 at the Northbrook Sports Center, 1730 Pfingsten Road. Events are scheduled on Friday evening, Saturday afternoon and Sunday for recreational skaters of all ages, and admission is free. Skaters from Northbrook, Glenview, Wilmette, Highland Park and other rinks are expected to take part in this 25th annual open team competition. Synchronized skating teams and team groups will compete, from tots to advanced freestyle levels. For more information on times and teams participating, call (847) 291-2993.  ###

ARCTIC WOLF: SHARE THE EXCITEMENT
(Ref:# 1108-2) On Friday, November 9, children and adults will have a rare opportunity to see an arctic wolf up close at the Northbrook Leisure Center, 3323 Walters Avenue. Wildlife rehabilitation expert Jan Smith will return for a popular show-and-tell event, bringing a wolf that she keeps outside her home. To accommodate everyone who wants to be part of this unique experience, there will be two programs, from 6-6:30pm and 7-7:30pm. The fee is $7 for Northbrook Park District residents and $10 for nonresidents; a special rate is available for Scouts. HOLIDAY BAZAAR
(Ref:# 1108-3) On November 8 and 9, the Northbrook Park District Senior Center will offer an annual holiday bazaar of handmade craft items, jewelry, clothing and gifts. The bazaar will run from 9am-5pm on November 8 and 9am-3pm on November 9 at the Senior Center, 3323 Walters Avenue. Vendors can rent an eight-foot table for both days for $22 or two tables for $40. BASKETBALL EVALUATION DAY
(Ref:# 1108-4) November 9 is the deadline to register for 6th-8th grade winter basketball with the Northbrook Park District. On Sunday, November 11, the District will evaluate all children who have registered to play in the 2007-2008 season. The evaluations will take place at Glenbrook North High School Field House and will last approximately 75 minutes. Sixth-grade boys and girls will be evaluated at 12:15pm, and 7th and 8th graders are scheduled for 1:30pm. For more information about the program, call (847) 291-2369.  ###

BARBARA RINELLA TICKETS (Ref:# 1108-6) On November 13, book dramatist Barbara Rinella will present The Boleyn Inheritance at Mission Hills Country Club in Northbrook. The doors will open at 11am, and lunch will be served at 11:45, followed by the presentation of the book. The entertaining event also includes raffles and door prizes. The fee is $20 for Northbrook Park District Senior Center members and $30 for non-members. The fee includes lunch and the presentation. DADDY/DAUGHTER HOLIDAY JEWELRY GIFTS
(Ref:# 1108-7) On Thursday, November 29, girls and their fathers can share a night out at a holiday jewelry-making class at the Northbrook Leisure Center, 3323 Walters Avenue.
Glitzy Girlz will provide crystals, charms and beads, and each couple can create necklaces and bracelets to give as gifts, along with one for the young designer to wear. The program, for ages 4-11 with a parent, will run from 6:30-7:30pm. The fee is $35 for Northbrook Park District residents and $40 for nonresidents. Additional daughters are welcome to attend for a fee of $23. Registration is available by mail, at all customer service locations and online at www.nbparks.org. PERMANENT TEE TIME LOTTERY
(Ref:# 1108-9) November 12 is the deadline to enter the 2008 permanent tee time lottery at Sportsman’s Country Club. To participate in the drawing, all members of a foursome must be Northbrook Park District residents with 2008 resident discount cards. Applications are accepted in person, by mail or by fax and must be accompanied by full payment. Applications submitted by fax at (847) 291-9436 must include a credit card number for payment. The lottery drawing will be held at Sportsman’s on November 14 at 7pm, and at least one member of each foursome must be present to choose the tee time. SENIOR THANKSGIVING LUNCH 
(Ref:# 1108-10) The Northbrook Park District Senior Center will host a Thanksgiving lunch on November 16 at Manor Care, 3300 Milwaukee Avenue in Northbrook. The lunch begins at 11:30am, followed by entertainment. The fee is just $7 for members of the Senior Center and $14 for nonmembers.
