DADDY/DAUGHTER HOLIDAY JEWELRY GIFTS
(Ref:# 1129-1) On Thursday, November 29, dads and their daughters can design jewelry gifts as a team, at a holiday class at the Northbrook Leisure Center, 3323 Walters Avenue. Glitzy Girlz will provide crystals, charms and beads, and each couple can create necklaces and bracelets to give as gifts, along with jewelry for the young designer to wear. The program, for ages 4-11 with a parent, will run from 6:30-7:30pm. The fee is $35 for Northbrook Park District residents and $40 for nonresidents. Additional daughters are welcome to attend for a fee of $23. Registration is available at all customer service locations and online at www.nbparks.org. (Ref:# 1129-2) A gingerbread house workshop, breakfast with Santa and a free ice skating lesson are just a few of the special events the Northbrook Park District is planning for December. Here are some of the dates to note:

    1,8,9,15 “The Wiz” performances at 12:30,4pm, Northbrook Theatre Children’s Company, Leisure Center.

    8 Breakfast with Santa, 9-10:30am, Leisure Center.

    12 Gingerbread House Workshop, 6-7:30pm, Leisure Center.

    12 Holiday Songfest, 12:30pm, Glenview United Methodist Church.

    13 Holiday Celebration, 11:30am, Chevy Chase Country Club.

    14 Annual Holiday Skating Recital, 5:50pm, Northbrook Sports Center.

    14 Deadline for letters to Santa’s Mailbox.

    17 Kreative Kreations – Daddy and Me Holiday Bear, 6:30-7:30pm, Leisure Center.

    26 Winter Break Escapes begin.

    26 Holiday Skating and Dance Camp begins, Northbrook Sports Center.

HALL OF FAME DEADLINE APPROACHING      
(Ref:# 1129-3) December 12 is the deadline for nominations for the Northbrook Hall of Fame and the Northbrook Sports Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame honors volunteers in the community who have helped the Northbrook Park District for at least five years and made a significant contribution. The Sports Hall of Fame recognizes the accomplishments of Northbrook youth who reached professional sports status or gained recognition in amateur sports at the national, international or Olympic team level.

Letters of nomination should include a description of the person’s contributions to the Park District or national sports recognition and can be mailed to:

Y’ALL COME” CHOIR TO SING IN EVANSTON HOLIDAY CONCERT
(Ref:# 1129-4) On Sunday, December 2, the “Y’All Come” Choir of Northbrook will sing in the annual Evanston Symphony Orchestra Christmas Concert at Evanston Township High School at 3pm. A family event, the concert will include an audience sing-along and an appearance by Santa Claus. The concert includes music by the ESO (Larry Eckerling, Maestro and Artistic Director), ballet dancing by the Evanston Dance Ensemble to music from “The Nutcracker” (Be`a Rashid, Director) and choral selections prepared by Choirmaster Susan J. Young.

This is the choir’s fourth year of participation in the event. The choral selections will be “Gloria in Excelsis” by Mark Hayes, “Donkey Carol" by John Rutter, “The Many Moods of Christmas” Suite #4 by Robert Shaw/Robert Russell Bennett and the popular “Hallelujah” Chorus from the “Messiah” by Handel. Affiliated with the Northbrook Park District, the choir is open to anyone from high school students to senior citizens. No auditions are necessary, but a registration fee is required. HOLIDAY SKATING RECITAL
(Ref:# 1129-5) The Northbrook Park District invites everyone to enjoy the skating artistry of our ice skating students at a Holiday Skating Recital on Friday, December 14.  Skaters from Freestyle 1 and up will prepare their own programs and skate to music they have chosen. The annual recital will begin at 5:50pm at the Northbrook Sports Center, 1730 Pfingsten Road, and admission is free. For more information, call (847) 291-2993.   ###
 

BREAKFAST WITH SANTA(Ref:# 1129-6) Children of all ages can enjoy a delicious holiday treat - breakfast with Santa Claus - on Saturday, December 8 at the Northbrook Leisure Center, 3323 Walters Avenue, from 9-10:30am. The menu includes pancakes, sausage, juice, milk and coffee, as well as a helping of holiday songs and a souvenir photograph. The fee is $10 for Northbrook Park District residents and $15 for nonresidents. Registration is available at all customer service locations and online at www.nbparks.org. For more information, call (847) 291-2980.  ### 

DEAR SANTA:
(Ref:# 1129-7) Children can receive a letter from Santa Claus, if they write Santa in care of the Northbrook Park District by December 14. The letters can be sent to the following address:

 Northbrook, IL 60062

If you prefer, you can leave a letter in a mailbox marked for Santa, outside the Leisure Center. Letters must include a self-addressed, stamped envelope and a phone number. All children who send a letter by the deadline will receive a letter from Santa and a phone call from Santa or a helper. There is no charge for the program, which is open to children of all ages. COSMIC SKATING
(Ref:# 1129-8) Everyone is invited to enjoy cosmic skating on Friday nights from 8-10pm at the Northbrook Sports Center, 1730 Pfingsten Road. Skaters will find theatrical lighting and special effects, games and contests, along with a professional DJ from "Strictly Fun Entertainment" playing the hits.
