PARK LARKS INVITE NEW MEMBERS
(Ref:# 1122-1) Senior adults who enjoy Broadway show tunes are invited to join the Park Larks, a Northbrook Park District singing group under the direction of former concert pianist Evelyn Binz. The singers rehearse on Thursday mornings from 9:30-11:30am at the Northbrook Leisure Center, 3323 Walters Avenue. Both men and women are welcome in the group and can join at any time after becoming members of the Senior Center. The Park Larks entertain at shopping centers, senior centers, retirement homes and community events. For more information, please call the Senior Center at (847) 291-2988. ###

HOLIDAY SONGFEST
(Ref:# 1122-2) The Park Larks, a Northbrook Park District singing group, will perform the sounds of the season at a Holiday Songfest on Wednesday, December 12 in Glenview. Eight different choruses will participate in the free event, which begins at 12:30pm at the Glenview United Methodist Church, 737 Harlem Avenue. HOLIDAY CELEBRATION
(Ref:# 1122-3) Adults can enjoy musical entertainment, lunch, prizes and gifts at a Holiday Celebration on December 13 at the Chevy Chase Country Club in Wheeling. The Northbrook Park District Senior Center is hosting the event, sponsored by Right at Home In-Home Care and Assistance, and the entertainment includes Ladies First, a talented girls' chorus from Glenbrook North High School. The event begins at 11:30am at 1000 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Wheeling, and the cost is $26. Membership in the Senior Center is not required. Call the Center at (847) 291-2988 to make reservations. ###

GREAT SKATING GIVEAWAY
(Ref:# 1122-4) November 28 is the last day to sign up for a free ice skating class for children at the Northbrook Sports Center on Saturday, December 1. The Northbrook Park District is offering the class for children between the ages of 3 and 12 years who have not taken skating classes before. Classes will be held from 12:40-1:10pm and 1:30-2pm. Children can learn basic skating skills; parents will learn about lacing skates properly and dressing for indoor ice skating. The class is a good introduction to both hockey and figure skating skills. Registration is required and is on a first-come, first-served basis, since space is limited. To sign up for the free class, fill out the special enrollment form found on page 36 of the Winter Recreation Guide and at the Sports Center, 1730 Pfingsten Road. WINTER BREAK ESCAPES
(Ref:# 1122-5) Don't be left out in the cold! The Northbrook Park District is offering six days of field trips and activities during the winter break from school, and registration is underway. The staff will plan and supervise full-day programs between December 26 and January 4, for students in kindergarten through 8th grade. The choices include arcade fun, a movie and miniature golf, sports, live theatre and a trip to one of the most popular museums in Chicago. Extended care is available before and after the programs, and the registration deadline is December 10. For more information, check p.63 of the Winter Recreation Guide or call (847) 291-2980.  ###

GINGERBREAD HOUSE WORKSHOP
(Ref:# 1122-6) Children are invited to decorate a gingerbread house at a workshop on December 12 at the Leisure Center, 3323 Walters Avenue. Park District staff will preassemble the basic houses, which children can bring to life with an assortment of sweet decorations and holiday features. The workshop, from 6-7:30pm, is designed for children ages 3-14 to attend with a parent. Pizza and drinks will be served. The fee is $30 for Northbrook Park District residents and $35 for nonresidents. Additional siblings or friends can attend for $12 each. DADDY AND ME HOLIDAY BEAR WORKSHOP
(Ref:# 1122-7) On December 17, children can create cuddly bears with their dads or a special male adult at a Kreative Kreations workshop from 6:30-7:30pm at the Leisure Center, 3323 Walters Avenue. Participants will stuff their bears and make a birth certificate and a holiday outfit. The fee is $34 for Northbrook Park District residents and $39 for nonresidents. Registration is available at all customer service locations, by mail and online at www.nbparks.org. HOLIDAY SKATING AND DANCE CAMP
(Ref:# 1122-8) The Holiday Skating and Dance Camp will return to the Northbrook Sports Center, beginning on December 26. The Northbrook Park District offers the program to children in kindergarten through 5th grade during the winter vacation from school. The activities will include ice skating, dancing, baking and arts and crafts; sessions run from 10am to 3pm on December 26, 27 and 28 and January 2, 3 and 4. The fee is $40 per day. STORY TIME LUNCH BUNCH
(Ref:# 1122-9) A new session of Story Time Lunch Bunch will begin in January, offering fun and friendship for preschool children at the Leisure Center. The children just need to bring lunch, and the program will provide stories and art projects. Children can come after Sunshine Preschool to extend their day but do not need to be in a preschool program to attend. The program is designed for children ages 3 ˝ to 5 and will be offered from 11:30am-12:45pm on Mondays, beginning January 14, and on Thursdays beginning on January 17. PRESCHOOLER'S DAY TO PLAY
(Ref:# 1122-10) Games, songs, stories, art projects and free play are part of Preschooler's Day to Play, a program that begins a new session in mid-January at the Leisure Center, 3323 Walters Avenue. Children between the ages of 3 ˝ and 5 years can attend on Tuesdays and/or Wednesdays from 11:45am to 1:45pm; they should bring lunch and a drink. CAFÉ AMIGOS
(Ref:# 1122-11) Hola! Café Amigos will open for business on January 18, allowing preschoolers to learn Spanish while lunching with friends. Theme days, songs, art and games are part of the new program from the Northbrook Park District for children who are 4 and 5. Children will bring a lunch and drink to the program, which is scheduled on Fridays from 11:30am to 1pm at the Leisure Center, 3323 Walters Avenue. Children who attend Sunshine Preschool on Friday mornings can extend their day with the class. The cost of the nine-week program is $176 for Northbrook Park District residents and $181 for nonresidents. Registration is available at all customer service locations and online at www.nbparks.org. SPORTING ENCOUNTERS PLUS LUNCH
(Ref:# 1122-12) Registration is underway for Sporting Encounters plus Lunch, which begins a new session on January 18 for children in preschool or kindergarten. Girls and boys age 4-5 can head to the Leisure Center gym after school for sporting fun. They'll learn basic skills of soccer, basketball, floor hockey and T-ball, taught by SportsKids staff. The program will meet on Fridays from 11:45am to 1:15pm, and the fee for 8 classes is $96 for Northbrook Park District residents and $101 for nonresidents. Children should bring lunch and a drink.
