VALENTINE BINGO AND LUNCH
(Ref:# 0131-1) The date of the Valentine Bingo and Lunch has been changed to Thursday, February 14 from Noon-2:30pm. The program will be held at the Northbrook Park District Senior Center, 3323 Walters Avenue. Prizes will be awarded. The fee is $7 for Senior Center members and $12 for nonmembers. (Ref:#0131-2) A Daddy/Daughter Dance and sweet Valentine programs kick off the special events from the Northbrook Park District in February. Here are some important dates to note:

    2,9,16,23 Performances of “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” from Northbrook Musical Theatre for Young Audiences, 10:30am, 1pm, Leisure Center.

    5,6 KIDSTAGE auditions, 4-6pm, Leisure Center.

    6 Kreative Kreations - Valentine Cake Decorating, 6:30-7:30pm, Leisure Center.

    7,8 Daddy-Daughter Dance, 6:30-8:30pm, Leisure Center.

WINTER SURVIVAL WALK
(Ref:# 0131-3) Children can discover how plants and animals cope with the cold during a snowshoe walk on Monday, February 18 at 3pm at the Trail Through Time. The one-hour program is designed for ages 8 and up and is available for Scout groups, as well. The Northbrook Park District will provide the snowshoes; the fee is $7 for Park District residents and $9 for nonresidents. The Trail Through Time is in Techny Prairie Park and Fields, 1750 Techny Road. For more information, call Julie at (847) 291-2995.  ###

VALENTINE CAKE DECORATING
 (Ref:# 0131-4) Kreative Kreations will hold a special Valentine cake decorating class on Wednesday, February 6, from 6:30-7:30pm at the Northbrook Leisure Center, 3323 Walters Avenue. Each child will have the chance to decorate a cake, cupcake, cake box and chef’s hat with colorful frosting and Valentine toppings. The program is designed for children between the ages of 3-12. Children ages 3-5 need to attend with an adult. The fee is $34 for Northbrook Park District residents and $39 for nonresidents. CELL PHONE CLASSES
(Ref:# 0131-5) Adults can connect to the latest in cell phone technology, with a series of three classes from the Northbrook Park District, beginning on Thursday, February 7, called How to Use Your Cell Phone. Participants should bring their cell phones and chargers to class and will learn how to store names and numbers, how to store and send pictures and how to use Blue Tooth technology, if applicable. Classes will be held from 9:30 to 11:30am at the Senior Center, 3323 Walters Avenue. The fee for three classes is $100 for Senior Center members and $110 for nonmembers. MOTHER/DAUGHTER LOCKETS OF LOVE
(Ref:# 0131-6) Girls can enjoy a Valentine’s Day jewelry event on February 11, with Glitzy Girlz: Mother/Daughter Lockets of Love, from 6:30-7:45pm at the Leisure Center, 3323 Walters Avenue. Participants will create engraved heart locket necklaces, bracelets and zipper pulls. The evening event, designed for girls age 4-11, also includes a dessert treat. The fee is $34 for Northbrook Park District residents and $39 for nonresidents. Additional children can attend for $31; girls also can attend with a favorite adult. KINDERMUSIK® CLASSES
(Ref:#0131-7) A new session of Kindermusik® Village, a music and movement class for very young children, will begin on February 7 at the Leisure Center, 3323 Walters Avenue. Called “Cock-a-doodle-MOO!” the session of eight classes is designed for children up to 18 months of age to attend with a parent. A CD, book and a simple instrument are included. Classes will meet on Thursday mornings from 10:40-11:25am for 8 weeks. The fee is $117 for Northbrook Park District residents and $122 for nonresidents. DADDY/DAUGHTER DANCE
(Ref:#0131-8) A magical evening, the annual Daddy/Daughter Dance, returns on February 7 and February 8, when dads are invited to escort their daughters to a Valentine’s dance from 6:30-8:30pm at the Leisure Center, 3323 Walters Avenue. The evening event includes photographs, goodie bags and a make-your-own sundae bar. Dads can enroll for only one evening. The fee is $60 for Northbrook Park District residents and $65 for non-residents. Additional daughters can attend for $20. To find out if space is still available, call (847) 291-2980. ###

AARP DRIVER SAFETY PROGRAM
(Ref:# 0131-9) On February 11 and 12, adults can refresh their driving skills with a two-day class at the Northbrook Senior Center, 3323 Walters Avenue. Geared to drivers age 50 and over, the AARP Driver Safety Program consists of two four-hour sessions, from 9am-1pm both days, with a trained State of Illinois Driver Safety Program instructor. The fee is $10 to cover materials. Any licensed driver may attend, regardless of age. Class size is limited. To register or get more information, call (847) 291-2988. ###

PRESCHOOL OPEN HOUSES
(Ref:# 0131-10) Open Houses for Sunshine Preschool and Terrific Twos will be held on February 12 at 6:30pm at the Leisure Center, 3323 Walters Avenue. Sunshine Preschool serves children between the ages of 3- to 5-year olds, with classes meeting 2,3 or 4 times per week; the schedule follows the calendar of the local school district. Terrific Twos is a transitional preschool program for 2-year-olds, with parents or caregivers attending the first few weeks of classes.
