GREEN SKATING SPECIAL
(Ref:# 0221-1) Ice skaters can wear green to save some green at the Northbrook Sports Center, as part of a winter pricing promotion the weekend before St. Patrick’s Day. Anyone wearing a green article of clothing during public skating on Friday, March 14, Saturday, March 15 and Sunday, March 16 will receive $1 off the cost of admission. Public skating on those dates is as follows:

Friday: 10:30am-Noon and 8-10pm (Cosmic Skating)
Saturday: 4-5:15pm
Sunday: 3-4:15pm

Regular prices for public skating sessions are $5 per adult, $4 per youth and $2 for children under age 5. The Northbrook Park District provides rental skates at a cost of $3 per pair. For more information, call the Sports Center at (847) 291-2993.  ###

NEW TEEN PROGRAMS
(Ref:# 0221-2) The Northbrook Park District is offering new programs for teenagers and preteens, including a trip to a Bulls game, a summer kick-off dance and CPR training. First up is a trip to the United Center on March 14 to watch the Chicago Bulls take on the Philadelphia 76ers. A bus will depart from the Leisure Center at 6pm and return at approximately 11pm. Parents are welcome to join this trip. The fee is $50 for Northbrook Park District residents and $60 for nonresidents. To register or get more information, call (847) 291-2980.  ###

SPRING BUNNY TRAIL
(Ref:# 0221-3) Children can hop over to the Villag
e Green on Saturday, March 15 for an exciting annual event―the Spring Bunny Trail. Boys and girls can hunt for candy, play games, win prizes, enjoy a magician’s performance and pose for photographs with the Spring Bunny. The free event begins at 10am, with photos from 10:30-11:30am. The popular egg hunt will begin at Noon for children up to age 3, followed by ages 4 and 5, then ages 6 and 7. No registration is necessary. In case of bad weather, the bunny trail will move indoors to the Northbrook Sports Center, 1730 Pfingsten Road, and each child will receive eggs at the end of the event. Parents can call the weather hotline at (847) 291-2985 on the day of the event for updated information.  ###

BOARD MEETING FEBRUARY 27
(Ref:# 0221-4) The Northbrook Park District Board of Commissioners will hold its monthly meeting on Wednesday, February 27 at 7pm at the Leisure Center, 3323 Walters Avenue. The public is welcome to attend. Agendas for the monthly meetings are posted online at www.nbparks.org in the Board meeting section. ###

GOLF RESIDENT DISCOUNT CARD
(Ref:# 0221-5) Think golf and save some green! Golfers can save money with an early fee for resident discount cards until the end of February. Cards are available to all Northbrook Park District residents 12 years and older for a reduced fee of $25. The regular fee of $50 will begin on March 1. The cards allow for reduced fees and advance tee time reservations at Sportsman’s Country Club and reduced fees at Anetsberger Golf Course. Resident discount cards can be purchased at Sportsman’s Golf Shop, with a valid photo ID and current utility bill to prove residency. For more information, call (847) 291-2351, extension 3. ###

SOCCER REGISTRATION DEADLINE
(Ref:# 0221-6) Friday, February 29 is the registration deadline for Spring Soccer with the Northbrook Park District. The program teaches the strategies of soccer in a fun, recreational and noncompetitive atmosphere. Children will learn all positions, and volunteer coaches will emphasize skill development, good sportsmanship and fitness. Teams are formed by school, and leagues are conducted for boys and girls separately, wherever possible. Practices will begin the week of April 7, and games are scheduled to start on April 12 and 13. Registration is accepted at all customer service locations and online at www.nbparks.org. DEADLINE FOR ENCHANTED CASTLE TRIP
(Ref:# 0221-8) February 21 is the deadline to register for a trip to Enchanted Castle on March 21, when schools are closed for the Good Friday holiday. The Northbrook Park District will take students in kindergarten through 8th grade to the popular arcade in Lombard. Pizza and soda will be included, along with game tokens and coupons. Participants will meet at the Leisure Center at 9am for the trip and should return by 3pm. The fee is $40-45, depending on residency, and extended care is available before or after the trip for an additional fee. EGG DYEING EGG-STRAVAGANZA
(Ref:# 0221-9) On March 19, children can decorate and embellish hard-boiled eggs at an
Egg Dyeing Egg-stravaganza from 6-7:30pm at the Leisure Center, 3323 Walters Avenue. The colorful craft program is designed for children ages 3 to 10 to attend with an adult. All supplies will be provided, along with pizza and drinks. The fee is $25 for Northbrook Park District residents and $30 for nonresidents.
