HOLIDAY SKATING RECITAL (Ref:# 1213-1) Ice skating students from Northbrook Park District classes will show their skills at a Holiday Skating Recital on Friday, December 14. Skaters from Freestyle 1 and up will prepare their own programs and skate to music of their choosing. The annual recital will begin at 6pm at the Northbrook Sports Center, 1730 Pfingsten Road, and admission is free. For more information, call (847) 291-2993.   ###

SUMMER DRAMA DISCOUNT DEADLINE
(Ref:# 1213-2) Lights! Action! Discount! Registration is underway for summer drama workshops from the Northbrook Park District, and an early registration discount is available until December 28. To receive the special preregistration rate, payment in full must be received by Noon on Friday, December 28, 2007. The summer workshops include Babes on Broadway for children in grades 1-2, Creative Drama, for grades 3-5 and Theatre Arts, for grades 6-10. DEAR SANTA:
(Ref:# 1213-3) Children can receive a letter from Santa Claus, if they write Santa in care of the Northbrook Park District by December 14. The letters can be sent to the following address:

    Santa Claus
    c/o Northbrook Leisure Center
    3323 Walters Avenue
    Northbrook, IL 60062

If you prefer, you can leave a letter in a mailbox marked for Santa, outside the Leisure Center. Letters must include a self-addressed, stamped envelope and a phone number. All children who send a letter by the deadline will receive a letter from Santa and a phone call from Santa or a helper. There is no charge for the program, which is open to children of all ages. DISHIN’ IN THE KITCHEN
(Ref:#1213-4) Adults can learn to prepare Super Bowl party food and quick weeknight meals with a new workshop series from the Northbrook Park District, called “Dishin’ in the Kitchen.” The first class, Super Bowl Party Food, will be offered on Friday, January 25, from 6:30-9pm at the Leisure Center, 3323 Walters Avenue. The menu will include mozzarella stuffed breadsticks, beef satay, BBQ pulled chicken sandwiches, dip and two desserts. No Reservations Weeknight Meals is the second tasty offering, on Thursday, February 21, also from 6:30-9pm at the Leisure Center. Adults can learn to make mini turkey meatloaf, marinated flank steak and stuffed chicken breast. The fee for each class is $65 for Northbrook Park District residents and $70 for nonresidents. DADDY AND ME HOLIDAY BEAR WORKSHOP
(Ref:# 1213-5) On December 17, children can create cuddly bears with their dads or a special male adult. The Northbrook Park District is offering a Kreative Kreations workshop from 6:30-7:30pm at the Leisure Center, 3323 Walters Avenue. Participants will stuff their bears and make a birth certificate and a holiday outfit. The fee is $34 for Northbrook park District residents and $39 for nonresidents. For more information, call (847) 291-2980. ### 

HOLIDAY SKATING AND DANCE CAMP
(Ref:# 1213-6) The Holiday Skating and Dance Camp will return to the Northbrook Sports Center, beginning on December 26. The Northbrook Park District offers the program to children in kindergarten through 5th grade during the winter vacation from school. The activities will include ice skating, dancing, baking and arts and crafts; sessions run from 10am to 3pm on December 26, 27 and 28 and January 2, 3 and 4. The fee is $40 per day. Y’ALL COME” CHOIR TO SING AT LIBRARY
(Ref:# 1213-7) On Sunday, December 16, the Y’All Come Choir of Northbrook will perform an assortment of holiday songs at the Northbrook Public Library, 1201 Cedar Lane, starting at 2 pm. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library, the concert will be held in the Library Auditorium and is free and open to the public. The Y’All Come Choir is affiliated with the Northbrook Park District and open to anyone from high school students to senior citizens. MEDEIVAL TIMES TRIP
(Ref:# 1213-8) December 28 is the last day to register for a special School’s Out presentation, a trip to Medieval Times in Schaumburg on January 21, Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Students can travel back to the Middle Ages and watch spectacular horsemanship, exciting swordplay and games of skill in a castle. The group will enjoy an entertaining and educational jousting competition and a pizza banquet. The trip is open to children in grades K-8, who will meet at the Leisure Center at 9am and return at 3pm. The fee is $40 for Northbrook Park District residents and $45 for nonresidents. Adventure Campus participants receive priority and are considered residents. Extended care is available before and after the trip. ADULT CERAMICS CLASSES
(Ref:# 1213-9) A new session of adult ceramics classes will begin in early January, allowing participants to use the potter’s wheel and create everything from sculpture to jewelry. Sharon Robbins will teach the classes on Monday and Wednesday evenings, Tuesday afternoons and Thursday mornings, starting the week of January 7. Most of the basic tools are provided, and the class is designed for all levels of ceramic knowledge, as well as individualized attention. BRIDGE CLASSES
(Ref:# 1213-10) The Northbrook Park District Senior Center will begin a new round of Bridge classes on January 9, offering Bridge Basics and Playing the Hand. Both are eight-week courses. The introductory class is offered on Wednesday mornings, with an hour of instruction and an hour of play. The more advanced class is on Wednesday afternoons. The fee for either session is $70 for Senior Center members and $80 for nonmembers. For more information, call the Center at (847) 291-2988.###
