JUNIOR LEADERSHIP DEADLINE
(Ref:# 0412-2) May 1 is the deadline for applications to the new Junior Leadership program, a summer program from the Northbrook Park District for students entering grades 8 though 10 next fall. Designed to introduce teens to leadership training and practical work experience, the program will allow participants to assist in a variety of Park District settings including summer camps. The teens also might help at the pools or golf courses, based on their interests. The leadership training is a four-week program, offered in two sessions. Two days each week the teens will focus on job skills and team-building exercises to increase their self-confidence. Interested students need to complete an application, which is available at the Leisure Center, 3323 Walters Avenue, and online at nbparks.org
. Because the program can accommodate only a limited number of participants, students will be selected on the basis of applications, adult references and interviews. Students chosen for the program will need to pay a minimal fee of $100 per four-week placement, to help defray the costs of training, field trips and supplies. For more information, please call the Leisure Center at (847) 291-2995.  ###
