Northbrook Theatre Children’s Company
“Theatre by kids . . . for kids!”

For over 30 years, the award-winning Northbrook Theatre Children’s Company has presented “theatre by youth for youth.” The actors are in grades 6-10 and perform age-appropriate plays and musicals suitable for family viewing. Auditions for our fall production are in September.

This spring, the Children’s Company presents the stage adaptation of the hit movie-musical, FAME, which follows the lives of the students enrolled in the prestigious New York High School of the Performing Arts.

The Bright Star Theatre Company

“Theatre for kids with Special Needs”

New this fall… a theatre company for teens with special needs. The company brings together disabled and non-disabled actors and supporters, production teams and the local community. Produced by the Northbrook Park District in cooperation with the North Suburban Special Recreation Association, BSTC will require the help of volunteers (Creative Companions) to assist our special actors in their starring roles.

This weekly program will meet from September to April. The Bright Star mission is to provide one-on-one relationships between special needs actors and their Creative Companions. The experience starts with theatre games, movement exercises and musical training for the first half of the year.

During the second half of the program, rehearsals begin for a fully-mounted musical production on our Main Stage Theatre at the Leisure Center. The culmination of the program is a performance for friends and family in our MainStage Theatre.

The Show
The Princess and the Pea
Saturday, April 14 – 4pm
Sunday, April 15 – 12:30pm

The Staff
The Bright Star Theatre is directed by David Downing. Wendy LaVarre is the
choreographer. David Zizic is the musical Director.

Creative Companions
The volunteer Creative Companions ("CC's" for short) are essential to the success
of the Bright Star Theatre Company. Each actor/CC team works toward developing
a role, culminating in the musical performance. Therefore, the work of the CC is as
special as that of our actors.

Tickets
All seats for “The Princess and the Pea” are reserved and are priced at $8 paid-in advance
and $10 online & day-of performance.

For information call the Performing Arts Office at 847·291·2367.
