Performing Arts Classes
The Northbrook Theatre offers a wide variety of classes in music, dance and drama through our educational program. Join the more than 2,000 students each year who study with NBT Performing Arts Classes.
New this Fall are a variety of Private Instrumental Music Classes which offer a one-on-one relationship between instructor and student. We also have our usual private lessons in vocal music and piano.
We’ve completely revamped our entire Dance Department offering a curriculum-based approach to dance education. This change has been so successful that it has more than doubled our enrollment. We have a variety of introductory classes for preschool children on up to traditional classes in tap, ballet and jazz for older students. Combination classes in Ballet/Tap/Hip Hop (Youth) and Tap/Jazz and Ballet/Lyrical (Adult) are available, as are specialty classes in musical theatre dance styles and Hip Hop street dance. There are classes for both children and adults. Click here for our Northbrook School of Dance page.
Our Drama Classes help students develop self-confidence and the ability to express themselves before large groups of people. The emphasis is on controlling the voice and body to display emotions and utilize the senses. Role-playing and make-believe are part of the dramatic moment. Our drama instructors are degree-holding educators and professional actors. New this Fall is Improvisational Drama, a class in spontaneously created scenes and theatre games that works to improve creativity. Check our Fall Recreation Guide for specific class dates, times and fees.
