Part-Time & Seasonal Opportunities
Theatre: Co-Costumer Qualifications: Degree in Costuming from an accredited college or university. Evidence of professional costume design expertise. Stitching and costume construction skills. Knowledge of makeup and hair dressing desirable. Interest in Children’s Theatre. Strong communication skills; excellent organizational/time management skills; commitment to collegiality; commitment to working with both professional adult actors and child performers. Candidate must also possess exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; must be accommodating and adaptable, with excellent team-building and customer service capabilities. Duties and Responsibilities: This position will assist the Co-Costumer executing designs, cutting, stitching, measuring and the like. This is a part-time, year-round position for the right candidate. Must be available to work weekdays with occasional Saturday and Sundays during performances. Flexible hours. Immediate availability desired.

Park Fest Concert Sound Technician The Northbrook Park District’s mission is to enhance our community by providing outstanding services, parks and facilities through environmental, social and stewardship. The Northbrook Theatre is seeking a positive and motivated worker for a part-time position. Qualifications: Requires an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university in Technical Theatre with an emphasis in sound, or significant (5+) years in a similar position. Duties and Responsibilities: Sound Technicians report to the Performing Arts Supervisor (Technical Director). Sound technicians are responsible for the loading, unloading, set up, take down and operation of Park Fest concerts and other music events. This will include the set up and operation of a multi-speaker audio system and mixing of multiple microphones including vocal and instrument microphones.

Director: ‘Pinkalicious’ Qualifications: B.A. Degree in Theatre, Musical Theatre, or equivalent experience required. Director experience and excellent customer service skills are necessary. Production Timeline: Employment for the Pinkalicious Director will begin with a pre-production meeting in September, 2013 and conclude at the close of the show, November 23, 2013.
Duties & Responsibilities: Attending all scheduled production meetings (2-3), attending one pre-production meeting, attending all scheduled rehearsals, attending and scheduling understudy and brush-up rehearsals (as needed, with approval from the Park District). Collaborating with choreographer, musical director, actors, technical director, set designer and Park District staff to communicate production, schedule, set and creative needs. Attend opening performance of ‘Pinkalicious’. Directing and executing a completed production of ‘Pinkalicious’, communicating changes and adjustments with the Equity Stage Manager and the Northbrook Park District. Director must also attend auditions (June 4, 4-8pm at the Northbrook Theatre) and maintain a positive and professional attitude as a representative of the Northbrook Park District. Skateboard Instructor We are seeking an energetic and motivated worker for a part-time skateboard instructor position in the Leisure Services Division. Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years of age and hold a valid Illinois driver’s license. Candidates should possess excellent customer service and communication skills. Building Attendant We are seeking a positive and motivated worker for a part-time building attendant position at the Sports Center. Qualifications: Candidates must have knowledge, skills and equivalent to the completion of four years of high school and the ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with coworkers and supervisors. Candidates must possess strong customer service skills and be fluent in English language. Must be available to work nights and weekends from 3pm to 1am. Duties and Responsibilities: The position is responsible for operating an ice resurfacer, coordinating night and weekend building operation, assisting customers, problem solving, light cleaning, snow removal and other various duties as assigned. Seasonal Parks Maintenance Worker – Landscape Grounds We are seeking a positive and motivated worker for a seasonal position with the Parks Department. Qualifications: Must have experience working in a fast-paced environment. Experience in landscaping and/or grounds maintenance preferred. Candidates must possess strong customer service skills and an ability to operate equipment and tools proficiently. Must be available to work various daytime shifts, evening and weekends. Duties and Responsibilities: Approximately 40 hours per week. The position is responsible for general Park maintenance including; landscaping, general facility maintenance or custodial tasks. This position performs routine landscape work. Required to perform ground maintenance activities as well such as raking, weeding, mowing, pruning, planting, cultivating and watering: grass, trees, flowers and shrubs. Camp Counselor The Northbrook Park District seeks a motivated, creative and experienced camp counselor for the 2013 Summer Camp program. Qualifications: 18 years old or older, who have experience working with children is required. College degree (or comparable experience in working with people and programs) in education, recreation or related field is highly desirable. Applicant must be available for the full 8 weeks of the camp season, June 17-August 9. Applicant must be able to attend training prior to the start of the camp program (June 11-13, 8am-4pm). Duties & Responsibilities: Counselors are responsible for the direct supervision of a group of 8-12 campers. Under the direct supervision of the Camp Site Director, he/she will plan and implement a variety of activities that are structured to provide quality recreational experiences for the children enrolled. Lifeguard We are seeking energetic, motivated and team-oriented part-time lifeguards at the outdoor aquatic facilities during the 2013 season. The Northbrook Park District’s mission is to enhance our community by providing outstanding services, parks and facilities through environmental, social and financial stewardship. Qualifications: Must be at least 16 years of age. Must hold, or have ability to obtain, StarGuard lifeguard license and CPR/AED certification. Previous experience working in an aquatic setting, with knowledge of pool maintenance, operations and/or aquatic programming is highly desirable. Duties & Responsibilities: Position reports directly to the Pool Manager and Assistant Manager. Must properly supervise and maintain a “10/20” zone coverage while guarding. Responsible for enforcing all pool rules and regulations established by the IDPH, StarFish Aquatic Institute, PDRMA and the Northbrook Park District. Other responsibilities include attending assigned trainings, maintaining cleanliness of facility, participating in safety drills, implementing positive public relations with patrons and other duties as assigned. Concession Staff RoccoVino’s is seeking positive, motivated and customer friendly staff for part time positions at Rocco Vino’s Concession stand inside the Northbrook Sports Center. Qualifications: Some food service experience is preferred, but not necessary. Candidates must possess a willingness to work hard and learn. Duties and Responsibilities: Approximately 15-20 hours a week. The position is responsible for preparing and serving food, handling cash and light cleaning.
